Today, Volta Energy deployed their first Smart Box in the field, the first of three, and another step towards emission-free construction.
The Smart Box distributes generated solar energy across the construction site. With active load balancing, consumption always stays within the limits of the grid connection. Power consumers that are temporarily not needed, such as the site office, are automatically switched off by the Smart Box, saving energy without sacrificing comfort or productivity.
Energy under control
Meanwhile, the system keeps everything in view: consumption and power profiles in a single overview. If a fuse or residual current device trips unexpectedly, the team receives an immediate alert. No surprises, just full control over energy use.
What the Smart Box does
The Smart Box is more than a distribution unit. It is the brain of the energy setup on a construction site:
- Dynamic load balancing: available power is automatically distributed, ensuring the grid connection or generator is never overloaded.
- Automatic switching: inactive devices are temporarily switched off to save energy.
- Real-time monitoring: consumption and power profiles are visible at any moment via the Energy Dashboard.
- Instant fault alerts: in the event of an earth fault or tripped fuse, the team receives an immediate notification, minimising downtime.
- Scalable: the Smart Box works with multiple energy sources, including solar panels and battery storage.
Thanks to the combination of smart control and real-time insight, project teams can manage proactively rather than react when something goes wrong.
